A music icon officially met an iconic Las Vegas landmark last night when the Goddess of Pop, Cher, arrived at the world-famous Fountains of Bellagio to debut a new fountains show to her hit song, “Believe.” Cher, joined by MGM Resorts International and AEG Presents executives, viewed the new show for the first time alongside hundreds of fans gathered at the Strip-side attraction.
“It’s an honor to be part of the MGM Resorts entertainment family and to be included in such a spectacular landmark on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Cher.
Launching her career in the 1960s as part of Sonny & Cher, the Oscar, Emmy, GRAMMY and Golden Globe Award-winning iconic star made unprecedented strides in what had long been a male-dominated industry. A worldwide superstar for more than five decades, Cher has sold more than 100 million records and conquered more challenges than a handful of other talents combined – recording, concerts, film, Broadway acting, television and directing.
Cher partnered with MGM Resorts International in 2016 to launch an exclusive extended engagement to perform at Park Theater, located at Monte Carlo in Las Vegas, and at The Theater at MGM National Harbor in Maryland. Since the premiere of CLASSIC CHER in February 2017, the over-the-top spectacle that celebrates the Cher’s phenomenal 50-year career has continued to receive rave reviews from across the globe, being hailed as a MUST-SEE show by critics and audiences.
CLASSIC CHER performances are currently running through February 3 and May 2 – 19 at Park Theater at Monte Carlo as well as February 17 – 25 at The Theater at MGM National Harbor.
The GRAMMY Award-winning song is the newest show choreographed by WET, the original Fountains’ creators. WET Executive Designer & Director of Choreography Peter Kopik carefully choreographed the show ensuring the rapid water movements matched the same vigorous energy showcased in the instantly recognizable song. The Fountains of Bellagio is complimentary with daily performances that rotate more than 30 songs.
