P3Studio Welcomes Newest Artist-In-Residence, Shantell Martin

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, together with Art Production Fund, is very happy to announce P3Studio artist-in-residence Shantell Martin. Noted for her engaging black and white visual stories, Martin draws on conversations, objects and places to produce an environment that’s part autobiographical and part dreamlike whimsy. Throughout her residency project entitled ?Record & Play,? Martin uses P3Studio like a lab where visitors may come to talk about their story and pay attention to the tales of others.

Martin will divide P3Studio into two key areas. One will be devoted to the thought of ?Record.? Here, visitors may contribute their very own ?who are you? story by bringing and leaving products that represent them, for example found or undesirable keys, a lock of hair, location of birth, fingerprints or ?something very YOU.? Visitors might also decide to sit down with Martin to become questioned and also have their portrait drawn. Lastly, visitors can record themselves within the ?Who Are You? booth talking about exactly that-who they really are.

In P3Studio devoted to ?Play,? visitors can observe the curiosities and tales of others. Here, you will see a ?You Are You? booth where visitors can enter to look at and pay attention to the autobiographies of previous visitors. With these stream of awareness tracks, we’re reminded from the natural difficulty in truly being yourself once the world is really frequently suggesting to become another person.

Martin is really a New York-based artist whose simple trademark of black ink and white surfaces produces a language of figures, animals and messages that invite her audiences to talk about a job in her own creative process.
