The traditional Japanese talent of Kabuki will debut around the Vegas Strip inside a never-before-seen spectacle this August. Bigger-than-existence animations and stunning water choreography will provide a remarkable rendition of Kabuki masterpiece Koi Tsukami or “Fight with a Carp” as an enormous fish and turbulent ocean are forecasted to the Fountains of Bellagio within an epic fight scene.
Famous Japanese actor Ichikawa Somegoro will clash with the giant carp from a remarkable 165-feet stage built inside Lake Bellagio throughout the 30-minute production, that will run August 14-16.
Shochiku, Japan’s premier Kabuki producer and global ambassador – with artistic partners Panasonic, teamLab and WET – and support from MGM Resorts Worldwide, aims to boost worldwide awareness for that art by orchestrating a more sophisticated, high-tech performance unlike anything Vegas and traditional Kabuki have seen. Projection mapping by Japanese artists and masterminds teamLab and spectacular water effects by WET brings the historic Japanese narrative to existence inside a Las vegas-style production.
The Kabuki Spectacle performance schedule is as follows:
