Robert Marble has been named Featured Artist for the Boulder City Hospital Foundation’s 53rd Annual Art In The Parlk event. Marble, who originates from Newport Beach, California, was an art major in college and grew to become a self-trained cartoonist who’d always imagined to become a painter and striking out by himself.
His goal is to help individuals laugh at themselves. Certainly one of the modern noted contemporary humorous artist, he devotes themself to satirizing various professions and sports with insight and precision.
“I just paint what I see,” said Marble. On each cartoon you will find his trademark, a little red bird. When he finished his first long (10 x 38) painting in 1974, he stepped back and observed, “This painting needs a touch of red.” With a stroke of his brush, the little red bird was born.
In 1974, he was active and restless while being employed as an illustrator and Art Director. Marble made the decision to depart his job to pursue what he loved doing best, making people laugh at themselves. Through the years he discovered that by drawing and painting everyday situations having a humorous slant, he discovered the more amusing side of existence within this high-tech, busy realm of ours. Simultaneously he was reassured through the people he met so good, clean, old-fashioned humor never is out of fashion.
“This is one of the reasons Marble’s artwork jumped out at us as fun and whimsical, we choose an acrylic painting entitled “We are all in this together” says Wendy Adams, Special Events Manager for Boulder City Hospital Foundation. “Just looking at this piece puts a smile on my face and I look forward to seeing everyone else smile right along with me”, said Adams.
All of Marble’s work is constantly expressing his humorous philosophy through painting and experimentation with assorted shapes, colors and methods. His latest work defines a persons condition of showing wildlife with titles that talks to the positive side. Marble’s acrylic works of art, special edition lithographs and giclee’s are displayed in private and company collections through the U.S. and abroad.
